These are examples of woodcut prints that I have done since 2010. My inspiration comes from observing and sketching elements of nature such as trees, rocks, sky, and landforms. These are places nearby in Santa Barbara County, as well as the Eastern Sierras and the desert Southwest.
Some of the prints are made with multiple wood plates printed on top of each other and others are reduction in which one plate is inked and carved multiple times making the resulting prints non reproducible. I use lithography ink on Japanese paper in order to create surprises in the prints where the transparent colors overlap.
