MEET THE ARTIST
A constant theme in Woodburn’s work has been the Landscape as a slowly shifting and changing environment impacted by geologic forces. Rocks, mountains, islands, and water are subjects in these prints. Her awareness of how these processes are being impacted by human caused Climate Change and the rapidity of the changes has informed new work.
Both California and New Mexico are places where the artist has lived for lengths of time observing the birds and plants that have inspired her prints. These can be in a landscape as intimate as her backyard or as vast as Southwest canyon country. Her study of native and endemic species, and witness of climate impacts, fire, migrations of birds and plants combined with the awareness of an imminent tipping point are inspirations for her art.
